Jane Robinson Walker, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2020. She was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Chesapeake, Maryland and Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from Queens College, Jane began her professional life as a nurse. She married Bob Walker and had two children, Lee and Jandee. After taking a break to focus on family in the early parenting years, Jane returned to college and received her first Master’s Degree from Winthrop College in the field of clothing design for special needs adults and children. She then went to work with the Commission for the Blind, teaching people life and coping skills.
Jane later obtained her second Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Occupational Therapy and began a specialized practice in hand therapy and rehabilitation. After paying her dues in hospitals and clinics in the Dallas area, Jane and Bob (her CFO) built North Texas Hand Rehabilitation Clinic from scratch and once they retired, sold the practice to Baylor Hospital.
After retirement, Jane devoted thousands of hours to Tiny Stitches, a non-profit that provides infant care baskets to new mothers in need.
Jane is predeceased by her husband of 60 years Bob Walker and survived by her sister Louella Foust, daughter Jandee Walker and Scott Bohannan, son Lee and Dawn Walker, grandchildren Ryan, Jordan and Max and great grandchild Wesley.
To protect the health and safety of family and friends, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate money to TinyStitches.org. Helping others was the core of our Mother’s mission.
