Janet Diket Boudet was the beloved daughter of the late Verda Ehrhardt Diket and Samuel Charles Diket, and the devoted wife of the late Robert “Bob” Boudet Sr., her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 wonderful years.
Janet was a loving and devoted mother to Robert Boudet Jr. (Debbie), Bridget Rickey (Dave), and Brandon Boudet (Isabelle). She was an adoring Nana to Madeline Rickey, Samuel Rickey, and Ella Boudet, as well as step-grandchildren Carl Rickey and Marshall Rickey. She was also cherished by her great-nieces and nephews, all of whom lovingly called her “Nana.”
She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Diket Smith (Richard), along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Raised in Gretna, Louisiana, Janet graduated from Behrman High School in 1961. Janet was known for her meticulous planning and organization—every December, she prepared her calendar with birthdays, purchased and addressed cards well in advance, and had Christmas gifts wrapped and ready by the first week in December. Family trips were thoughtfully planned, with suitcases packed a week in advance, ensuring every detail was just right.
She had a passion for gardening and proudly earned “Garden of the Month” honors multiple times. She was an active member and officer of the South Louisiana Retriever Club for many years. Janet also spent many years playing tennis and golf and stayed active through workout classes at the YMCA.
She treasured her lifelong friendships and was deeply connected to her extended family. Janet loved celebrating Mardi Gras and attending Jazz Fest, spending time with neighbors in Myrtle Grove, and, above all, being with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.
Janet and Bob shared a beautiful life together, doing nearly everything side by side. Their 60 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
A visitation will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, Louisiana 70448.
