Later in 1976, she moved to the South Dade County area of Kendall, FL. There she met her future husband, Tim Sakhnovsky, while attending Miami Killian High School. They both attended the University of Florida and married in 1984. The following year they graduated, and Janet earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Soon afterward, they relocated to Sandy Springs, GA, where Janet worked at Montessori School of Roswell and later as a social worker in Cobb County and Fulton County.
In 1991 her first child, Robert, was born, and her second child, Audrey, followed in 1997. Both children graduated from Big 10 colleges, and Janet welcomed her first grandchild, Ava in September of 2025. Her children and granddaughter were the driving joy of her life.
She poured her heart and remarkable skill into crochet and crafts, creating countless handmade treasures that brought comfort and warmth to her family. We ask in lieu of flowers to send donations to Breast Cancer Research Foundation https://www.bcrf.org/ in Janet’s name.
There will be a private family service to honor Janet. She will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA.
