Mrs. Jean Mottern Jones, age 80, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Jean was born on January 23, 1938 in Kingsport, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Jesse Mottern and Aileen Bruner Mottern.
Jean spent most of her youth in the mountains of Tennessee until she eventually made her way to Richmond, Virginia. There she married the love of her life, Mr. Bill Jones and the two began a beautiful journey of fifty-nine years together. Bill and Jean lived in several different areas of the country, eventually making their way to Atlanta in 1979. Her greatest joy came from being a loving wife to her husband and a dedicated mother to her four children. Jean loved to cook, work in her flower garden, and spend time with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; Jean will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Jones; four children, Michael Jones, wife Carol Ann, of Cleveland, Ohio, Sharon Kay Jones of Ellijay, Georgia, Susan Fiveash, husband Kirby of Roswell, Georgia, Michelle Buttimer of Jasper, Georgia; six grandchildren, Emily, Michael, McKinsey, Marley, Maddie, and Macie; and one great-grandson John.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Jean Mottern Jones will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Reception Room of Roswell Funeral Home.
