

Mrs. Jean Hatcher Turner, 80, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 10th, 2021 surrounded by her family. Jean was born on June 10, 1941, in Macon, Georgia to the late Agnes McKenna Hatcher and Frederick Edward Hatcher.
Mrs. Turner was a graduate of Mount de Sales Academy in Macon, Georgia. She then went on to graduate from Sacred Heart Junior College in Cullman, Alabama, Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and then received a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia.
She married her husband of 55 years, Thomas Edwin “Ed” Turner, on July 16th, 1966. They were blessed to have three children, Ricky, Jan, and Michael. The love they shared created memories that will be cherished for forever.
She was a very kind, generous, and tender soul with the best southern accent. She was always there for anyone in need. Her hard work and dedication never went unnoticed. Mrs. Turner taught in DeKalb School System for 30 years. She spent five of those years at Cary Reynolds Elementary School and twenty-five years at Huntley Hills Elementary School. She loved teaching and made a positive, lasting impact on many young lives.
Mrs. Turner took great pride in her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called her Grandma. She spent most of her time watching her son, Ricky, coach football, her daughter, Jan, coach basketball and her son, Michael, coach baseball. Her favorite time spent was watching all of the grandchildren play sports, most recently at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, Hebron Christian Academy and Samford University. She loved the beach and the mountains. Traveling often to Amelia Island and Highlands, NC. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Grandma was Santa maxed out! She loved to cook for her family, and made the best spaghetti and potato soup! Spending time with her family is what brought her the most joy throughout the years.
Mrs. Turner was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her life and love for her family will always be cherished by the many lives who knew her. She has definitely left behind a lasting legacy.
Jean Hatcher Turner was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Agnes Hatcher and granddaughter, Jessica Turner; sister and brother in law, Mary Ann and Joe Hammonds; brother, Fred Hatcher; niece, Beth McIlmail. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Edwin “Ed”; children, Richard Thomas Turner (Lynn) of Roswell, Georgia (Ricky Turner Jr., Justin Turner, Matthew Turner, Christopher Turner), Janice Marie Turner Azar (David) of Dacula, Georgia (Nicole Azar, Andrew Azar), Michael Edward Turner (Leslie) of Duluth, Georgia (Madilyn Turner, Ashley Turner); brothers, Edgar Hatcher of Macon, Georgia, Duck (Jody) Hatcher of Milledgeville, Georgia, Ricky (Lynn) Hatcher of Macon, Georgia; sister-in-law, Elaine Hatcher of Macon, Georgia and countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Turner was an active member of St. Brigid Catholic Church for many years. She was passionate about her faith and raising her children in the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Turner will be on Monday, September 13th, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Roswell Funeral Home located at 950 Mansell Road in Roswell, Georgia. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at 11:00 AM with a burial to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery at 950 Mansell Road in Roswell, Georgia.
