

Jo Lynn was born on September 23, 1950, in Rancagua, Chile, to George Walter O’Neill and Sarah Joanna O’Neill. Her father was employed as an engineer with an American-owned copper mining company in Chile. The family returned to the USA in the mid-1950s and resided in Atlanta, Georgia. Jo Lynn graduated from Druid Hills High School.
She married Frank M. Boardman and they had a son, Matthew Frank Boardman. Jo Lynn later married Ed Sancomb.
Jo Lynn was a prolific writer and poet. One of her poems, “Covenant,” was published in Kentucky Review. Another poem, “Leaving Cumberland,” was set to music by composer Dick Robinson, a violinist in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Jo Lynn was a very caring person and was involved in helping immigrant families navigate their adjustment to a new culture. She worked for various nonprofit agencies in the Atlanta area, and was self-employed as a freelance writer.
Jo Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, brother John C. O’Neill, and husband Ed Sancomb. She is survived by her son Frank Matthew Boardman and grandchild E.J. Boardman, and by her brother, George W. O’Neill, Jr., of Fargo.
