Joanne met her husband, Martin McInnerney, in Burton, Ohio and they married in 2004. During their marriage they were blessed with their daughter, Amy. She enjoyed showing Amy the world through travel and adventures and loved being a dance mom and encouraging Amy to follow her passions. Marty will miss traveling with Joanne, attending events and their dinners out.
Joanne was an incredible human being, bringing positive energy, creativity, wisdom, and determination to any situation. She loved shopping, especially thrifting and consignment. She was artistic and that showed through her many passions, including jewelry making. Joanne loved exploring through nature and activity, which led her to hiking. Nature allowed her to see the joy and beauty in life to which she then passed on to those lucky enough to know her.
Joanne was valedictorian of her high school class at Boylan Catholic High School in Rockford, Illinois. Joanne was also a graduate of Northern Illinois University. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational Psychology when she was 26.
Joanne was a mentor to many and inspired them throughout her career. She and Marty relocated to Marietta, Georgia in 2010 where Joanne began her career at Novelis. As Vice President of Human Relations, she inspired many to following their dreams and reach for their potential. Her laugh lit up the room and her sense of joy was contagious. She had a unique talent for making each person she interacted with feel honored, valued and heard. Joanne also shared her talents outside of work, most recently as an advisory board member for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Atlanta and as a board member of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Education Collaborative focused on STEM education for Georgia’s future workforce. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Martin, beloved daughter Amy, her mother, Sandra, and siblings Samuel (Sara) Roberts, Darlene Wray, and Sonny (Colleen) Wray along with all of those she loved and touched deeply.
