

John was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Mr. Samuel and Lois Williams-Hancock on June 12, 1931. He excelled academically and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech University. He was a proud Georgia Tech alumni and supported the Alumni Association’s Roll Call for over forty years. His career at Lockheed lasted thirty two years and included contributions to the development of new innovative aircraft. He maintained close relations with friends from Lockheed years after his retirement through regular meetings of the Piccadilly Boys.
Never one to sit around John enjoyed building hobby aircraft, fishing, golf, tennis, an avid reader & researcher and videographer to mention a few things he pursued and mastered over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lois Williams-Hancock; siblings, Dorothy Ellen Pettigrew, Laurie Carrin and Cornelia Harkness.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Cynthia Joan Hancock and many nephews and nieces whom he set the example for and looked up to him as a father figure.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd. Roswell, GA. 30076.
There will be an escort to lead the funeral procession to the interment following the funeral service at 3:00 pm at Georgia Memorial Park 2000 Cobb Parkway SE .Marietta, GA. 30060.
