John was a devoted family man who treasured the people he loved. He also had a love of travel and enjoyed exploring the world, especially through cruises and time spent making memories with family and friends.
During the Vietnam War era, John served in the National Guard in Washington, D.C., including during a period marked by civil unrest and riots. His service was an important part of his life and legacy.
Following his National Guard service, John worked as a clerk-typist for Southern Railway. He later retired from Norfolk Southern Corporation, where he served as Assistant Corporate Secretary-Archives.
John was a partner in Pure Taqueria, a restaurant that began humbly in a gas station and grew into a beloved business. He took pride in being part of its journey and the people he met along the way.
John also developed a passion for wine, which led him to build a wine cellar to house his sizable collection. Over the years, his collection has been enjoyed and shared with family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his son, Brian Kibler; Brian's mother, Pat Wilson; and his parents, Daniel and Marjorie Kibler.
He is survived by his wife, Mary K. Kibler; his grandchildren, Andie, Jacob and Murphy; his brother, David Kibler and his wife, Mary; and many other family members and friends who will remember him for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and the memories they shared together.
John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 675 Riverside Road, Roswell, Georgia, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
John will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia, immediately following the Funeral Mass.
