Born September 17, 1961, in Norfolk Virginia, he was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia.
He took great pride in providing care to children and established Children's Care Pediatrics in 2000, where he served kids in the Atlanta area for 25 years. John was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, music, traveling and all Georgia sports, particularly when shared with his son and friends.
He was especially proud of training his therapy dog, Georgia, and visiting Children’s hospitals with her as part of Happy Tails.
Dr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Carol Andrews Thomas, of Roswell, Georgia; his son, Dr. David Edwin Thomas, of Gainesville, Florida; his mother, Elizabeth Sanders Thomas (Betty), of Roswell, Georgia; his sister, Elizabeth Thomas Long, of Marietta, Georgia and his uncle, Edwin Hanson Sanders, of Lexington, Kentucky.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 9th at Roswell Funeral Home with a visitation at 1:00 PM and a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM. He will be interred at Oconee Hills Cemetery in Athens, Georgia at a later date.
