Miss Judell Engelman, age 84, of Canton, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022. Judell was born on December 21st, 1937 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of the late Gilbert Devon Engelman and Betty Ray Engelman.
Judell graduated from Hill Memorial High School in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1954, Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee in 1962, and got her Master’s in Education from Michigan State University in 1964. Having never married, she got her first teaching job in Michigan where she taught for a couple years before moving to San Jose, California, where she faithfully served as a public school elementary teacher until her retirement. After her retirement in 2004, she continued serving as a volunteer in the school system until 2017 when she moved to Canton, Georgia to be close to her brother, Phil and family, and to be cared for by Phil.
Throughout her life, Judell poured out her love on her family and her brother's families, the late James Tim Engelman and Philip L. Engelman who survives her. She was incredibly generous to those she knew and to many nonprofit causes and social concerns.
Early in life, she was highly active in Youth for Christ and later the single's ministry of Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California. Later in life, her church attendance faded especially as her health challenges increased, but her faith was that of a believer in Jesus.
A celebration of life to honor Judell Engelman will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076. Interment will follow the service at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum.
