She was the eldest child and a 1961 graduate of El Cajon Valley High School. She was taught to shoot at the age of five by her sharp shooter Missourian father. She loved being barefoot even in winter and playing in the cowpies on her grandparents farm.
She enjoyed hula dancing, oil painting, cake decorating, gardening, bowling, genealogy, reading and writing poetry and dog shows with her dalmatians and dachshunds.
She loved her Irish Scottish heritage and Celtic music, Mexican food, ice cream, and milk and cookies.
She worked as a real estate agent and as a retail sales manager, but her favorite job was babysitting and being a mom. She will be most remembered for her love and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her eight year old brother Allen Ellis, father Harry E. Ellis, mother Leona S. Ellis, husband of 43 years Donald C. Nickerson, and son in-law Larry E. Ross as well as her dear dachshunds Storey, Gabby, and Nola.
Survived by daughter Denise Nickerson and son in-law Lewis Burton of Lawrenceville Georgia and daughter Bonnie Nickerson-Ross of Roswell Georgia.
