Born to the late Benjamin "B.B." and Zelda Lipscomb on December 31, 1948, Kenneth was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas. He later went on to graduate from Tennessee State University, where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, centered around brotherhood and equality.
He dedicated his life to Christ early on and was a devoted member of the St. James United Methodist Church for more than 20 years. For many years he sang in the church’s Sanctuary Choir and Male Chorus.
Before retiring in 2013, Kenneth’s career was in sales and technical support. He loved spending his leisure time working on carpentry projects, traveling, and learning to golf. He enjoyed all kinds of music and taught his children to appreciate everything from jazz to gospel to old-school R&B. The highlight of Kenneth’s life was the devotion and support he showed his wife and children. Nothing would stand in the way of him doing whatever he could to ensure their happiness and to put a smile on their faces.
Along with his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his older brother, Benny Lipscomb.
Kenneth and his adoring wife, Ruth Green Lipscomb, would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on December 30th. He is survived by her; his children: Darrya Anjanette Lipscomb and Ryan Timothy Lipscomb; siblings: Carolyn Lucas, Bettye Berry (Coy), and James Lipscomb (Maryland); brother and sister- in- law, Ralph Green and Patricia Green; and a host of many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth’s honor can be made to the COPD Foundation or the American Lung Association.
