Laurel Meisel passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022, after living with Multiple Sclerosis for 40 years. She was a true warrior with immense strength and optimism while living with a debilitating neurological autoimmune disorder. She lived fully in every moment and took nothing for granted.
Laurel was a beloved wife, daughter, and mother. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Virginia S. Taylor and Charles Taylor and attended the Hathaway Brown School and The University of Tampa. Her stepfather was Harold Sauerbrei, the long-time general manager of The Cleveland Browns Football Team. Laurel moved to Atlanta, GA, in 1983 after marrying her husband, Craig L. Meisel. Laurel was active in her community as a volunteer for many years at schools and The Community Action Center. She was also a co-troop leader of her daughter’s girl scout troop. She and her husband were involved in many charities, especially in the medical community, such as The Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Laurel was an attentive and loving mother and wife. She loved her friends and had a smile for all that knew her.
Laurel is survived by her husband, Craig Meisel, her daughter Holly Troche, her two granddaughters, Attia and Lillia Troche, her mother, Virginia Baran, her brothers Preston Taylor and Bruce Taylor, her son-in-law Hugo Troche as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is also remembered as a beloved near-family member by her long-time caregiver, loved one, and friend, Caralisa Taylor.
Although we miss Laurel, she is at peace, and her memory lives on through all that loved her, friends, and family.
