Linda Bigham LaGrone

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray LaGrone, her daughter, Shannon LaGrone, her grandson Jason Swann, her parents, Grady and Ethel Bigham, sister, Lorene Bigham Goins and brother, David Bigham.

She is survived by her son, Russ (Kay) LaGrone, daughters, Lynita (Glen) Leggett and Susan (Chet) Hallman, her 11 grandchildren including Kylie LaGrone who lived with her, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, one brother, her sister-in-law Glenda (LaGrone) Sams and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Linda loved her family deeply and enjoyed each role she played in it. She was the second child of ten. Growing up on a cotton farm, she learned early the value of hard work but also the joy of doing it along with family. She met and married Ray LaGrone in 1958 when they were both working for the Tuscaloosa News. They were married for almost 59 years. They were avid fans of Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. They shared a faith in God that continued to grow throughout their years together.

She loved being a mom to her four children, Russ, Lynita, Susan and Shannon. She instilled in them many things – the importance of good character, the value of doing your best, the need to attend church, the joy of friends, the pleasure of good cooking and the love of reading.

As a mother-in-law she always made her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law feel loved and supported in every way. They were blessed by her kindness and devotion to them, always making them know they were special to her.

She loved her grandchildren and they loved their Grammy. She made each of them feel special. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. (Even for her large extended family!) She had a knack for stepping in when a family member needed help in big ways and small, showing compassion all along the way. Her granddaughter, Kylie, was especially blessed by Grammy’s daily care and guidance. They all loved playing games of any kind with her. And, of course, every trip to Grammy’s included watching sports or game shows. Especially, The Price Is Right!

Linda never met a stranger. One of her greatest gifts was talking, always sharing life stories and experiences with others. She never let anyone leave her house empty-handed. She was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her, and they hope to carry that light in their lives.

Visitation will be held at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, US, on August 26, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Following the service, Linda will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
