Luz M. Roache, lovingly known as Lucy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2017 while under Hospice Care at Arbor Terrace at Crabapple in Alpharetta, Georgia. Lucy was born on November 6, 1936 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico to Ricardo Lozada and Otilia Rosado as one of seven children borne to the couple. She is survived by her siblings Luis Alberto Lozada, Eloisa Roman and Aida Soto as well as by her many nieces and nephews. She lived in Roswell, Georgia alongside her husband of 25 years, T. Richard Roache until his passing in November 2014.
Lucy was the embodiment of “joie de vivre.” This was most evident in her love of travel where she visited many countries around the world during her young adult years and revisiting these again with her husband Richard where she also demonstrated her multilingual talents as well. She loved to dance and would be swaying her hips whenever music was played. In addition to her joy of living, she was also a firm believer in education. One of her proudest moments was when she received her Bachelor’s Degree in August 1981. Lucy was a politically active person. She participated in organizations that worked on getting people registered to vote and coordinated transportation for those who otherwise were unable to make it to the polls on various elections. Her motto was “in order to affect change one must be a part of the process.”
Please join the family and friends as we celebrate her life on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of Roswell at 10:30 a.m. and/or at Roswell Funeral Home at noon where we will share stories of our experiences with Lucy.
