Lyllian Carolyn Doremus Blauser, known to most as Carolyn, lived 103 years with absolutely zero apologies. Born May 14, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frank and Carrie Doremus. She lived a full and remarkable life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, community, and enduring love.
On September 7, 1946, Carolyn married the love of her life, David Blauser Sr. of Payson, Illinois, and together they put down roots on the Blauser family farm, and the place they would call home for the next 47 years. Side by side, they worked the land, raising children, crops and livestock, with their hearts set on building something lasting. That something grew into a thriving poultry operation that expanded to serve a tri-state area, a testament to what the two of them could accomplish together. Carolyn was there for all of it with David - the early mornings, the long days, the hard seasons, and the plentiful ones. They did everything together and built an extraordinary life. When all was said and done, she and David had shared 75 years of marriage. A love that never wavered, never faded, and ran as deep as the Illinois soil they farmed together.
Carolyn was a woman of deep faith and generous spirit. She was an active member of the Payson Congregational Church, where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron on multiple occasions. Her dedication to young women was evident through her involvement in the Order of Rainbow for Girls, where she served as President of the Mothers Club. She and David also treasured their years of fellowship with their Couples Club. In addition to her many community roles, Carolyn enjoyed a successful career in real estate, which she pursued for many years. Carolyn was a wonderful artist and spent her free time in her art room with her watercolors, painting the world as she saw it.
Later in life, Carolyn and David relocated to the Atlanta, Georgia area, where she spent 26 years living near her daughter. For the last nine years of her life, she was lovingly cared for in her daughter's home but still managed to remain in charge.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Blauser; her brothers, Robert and George Doremus; and her sister, Sarah Bermel.
She is survived by her beloved son, David Jacob Blauser Jr. (Tami); her daughter, Sarah Blauser; her grandchildren, Carrie (Army) Miller, Katie (Mark) LeCraw, Helen (Matt) Belleville, Hannah (John) Cournoyer, Caleb Blauser, Stephen Blauser, Jaden Blauser, and Ethan Blauser; and her great-grandchildren, Eliza and Allie LeCraw; Adelle, Deacon, and Lyllian Miller; Adelaide and Elaina Belleville; Michael, Daniel, and Samuel Cournoyer; Kalani Blauser and Amari Blauser.
Lyllian Carolyn Blauser lived her 103 years being exactly who she was, a “tough ole bird” with a soft heart, a witty tongue, and extra packets of sugar! She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her warmth, strength, humor, and unwavering love. Her sharp one-liners could catch you off guard and leave you laughing before you knew what happened. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever quoted.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on June 19, 2026 at the Georgia National Cemetery.
