Lynne was born in New Jersey to Robert and Mildred Pressley. Lynne was an exceedingly bright student, loved ice skating, girl scouts, and had artistic interests and talent from an early age. Her family took long road trips across the United States visiting great American landmarks including the Grand Canyon. Lynne’s family moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania when she was a child where she flourished and met her lifelong best friend, Kathy. She attended John Harris High School where she was part of the highly competitive honors program. Lynne continued to excel in the creative arts including a role in the School play, A Flower Drum Song. In 1967, with a select group from her high school, Lynne traveled to France to learn more about art.
After graduating high school in 1968, Lynne’s family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Lynne began studying art at the University of Georgia, but then found a passion for Journalism. While at the university, Lynne worked for the school paper, The Red and Black. She also enrolled in a class with Professor Bob Anservitz. Lynne graduated magna cum laude in 1972.
Lynne’s first job out of college was as Advertising Director for the newspaper in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Lynne and Hollywood movie star, Maureen O’Hara, bonded over being the only two redheads on the Island. To be closer to her parents, Lynne moved back to Atlanta in the 70’s and continued her career in marketing at which time she reconnected with her former professor Bob Anservitz. Lynne loved to travel and engendered a love of travel in Bob. They visited France, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Canada (they honeymooned in Quebec).
Lynne then joined C&S Bank, the largest bank in Georgia at that time, as Advertising Director. By the age of 24, Lynne had risen to the rank of Vice President. During her tenure at the bank, Lynne won a Clio, the highest award for advertising creativity.
In 1985, Lynne married Bob Anservitz, her long-time partner and former professor. She also opened her own advertising agency. In 1986, Bob and Lynne’s son, Alex, was born. Lynne added a nursery to her advertising agency and ultimately won an award as Best Working Mother in the Atlanta area.
Lynne loved being a mother and eventually left advertising to teach at Woodward Academy where Alex attended school. After teaching at Woodward for five years, Lynne dusted off her journalism degree and went into publishing. She became Director of Publications for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where she spent the remaining fifteen years of her career. During her tenure at the Fed, Lynne helped open the monetary museum, pioneered a Federal Reserve podcast while that medium was in its infancy, and was senior editor for publications.
Lynne retired in 2015. She enjoyed her retirement tremendously, traveling often to Hilton Head Island as well as taking more trips to Europe with Bob.
Lynne was a devoted lover of animals. She always had cats and championed dozens of animal causes. She also had diverse interests. She continued to create art throughout her life, predominantly working in watercolor, pastels, and mixed media. Lynne was fascinated by the scaling of objects – collecting things that were oversized or miniature. She was also an Anglophile and a connoisseur of teas. Lynne always looked forward to Christmas. Her family and friends looked forward to enjoying her home -- especially at the holidays -- since her decorations looked like department store displays.
Lynne filled our lives with love. Her family will miss her beyond belief.
Lynne is survived by her son Alex, the love of her life, Bob, Alex’s significant other, Stephanie, and her cats Hannah, and Casey. She is also survived by her cousins and many close friends.
A graveside service will be held in Lynne’s honor on Friday, October 10th at 11:00 AM at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum at 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia 30076.
In lieu of flowers, Lynne’s family would appreciate donations to some of Lynne’s favorite charities including…
