

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marcus Urquiaga, a devoted husband, loving father, accomplished professional, and a truly wonderful person. Marcus' journey through life was marked by exceptional achievements; however, it was his unwavering love for his family, his faith, and his kind, generous spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born and raised in New York, Marcus was a son of the city. He attended LaGuardia High School of Music and Arts, and later pursued higher education, earning his MBA from Georgia College and State University. In 2010, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to marry the love of his life, Panida Nasseh. Their love story was one of a kind, and their marriage marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
The greatest joy of Marcus' life was being a father to his beloved son, Justin. His devotion to Justin was evident in every aspect of his life. He cherished every moment they spent together, from sharing life's simple pleasures to nurturing Justin's growth and aspirations. As a family, they created countless cherished memories that will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to witness the love they shared.
In his professional life, Marcus was a trailblazer, making a significant impact in the field of academic healthcare administration. His dedication and exceptional skills earned him recognition, including the 2017 Emory University Award of Distinction. He was known for his innovative financial tools, leadership in organizational and personnel management, and his ability to lead cross-functional teams toward common goals. Marcus' contributions extended well beyond the workplace; his commitment to excellence enriched the lives of many.
What truly set Marcus apart was not just his professional achievements, but also his character. He was a kind and generous soul who touched the lives of countless people with his compassion and warmth. He had an unwavering belief in the goodness of others and the power of kindness. Marcus was always there to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, and a genuine smile. There will be a funeral service on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. Marcus will be laid to rest following the service in Green Lawn Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a reception and time of fellowship in the Event Room of Roswell Funeral Home.
