Marilyn M. Disher, of Marietta, GA, passed away on October 27, 2016. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed life with her family. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing Scrabble, square-dancing, and travel. The things that made her most happy were “family, friends, music, compliments, ice cream and chocolate.”
Marilyn graduated from Rice University with a BA in French and Spanish. She earned a Master of Library Science degree from Florida State University, and held positions at university libraries in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana. While living in Huntsville, AL, she served as Assistant Curator of the Huntsville Museum of Art. She finished her career as Assistant Director of the Merchants Walk Library in Cobb County.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Sid, her sister Nancy (Houston, TX), her children Michael (Port Orange, FL) and Karen (Sunnyvale, CA) and four loving grandchildren.
A memorial service for Marilyn will be held Saturday, November 5th, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at the Roswell United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
