

Hall, Marilyn Claire Monson, of Alpharetta, GA passed away October 9, 2017 at the age of 85. Cherished daughter of the late Clarence and Marcella Monson; devoted mother of Elizabeth R. (Jim) Gilroy, Jeffrey W. Hall, and Angel A. (Steve) Perry. Loving grandmother of Madilene, Heather and Jackson. Married the late Jerome Hall in 1957 and later divorced in 1995. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Monson.
Marilyn was born in Minneapolis, MN at the Salvation Army Home on June 29, 1932. Her birth mother was Hannah Joline Samsal of Bagley, MN. Marilyn’s birth name was Beverly Joyce Samsal. On July 2, 1932, Marilyn was adopted by Clarence and Marcella Monson of Taylors Falls, MN. She was given her name of Marilyn Claire at that time. Marilyn grew up on her family farm and graduated from high school in Taylors Falls. She later graduated from nurse’s training at Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Upon graduation, she worked at Ladd Memorial in Osceola, WI, Eitel and Northern Pacific Hospitals in St. Paul, MN. She then decided to go back to school and graduated from Airline School of the Pacific in Los Angeles, CA. She became a flight attendant for Northwest Orient Airlines where she flew for 5 years. She later enjoyed life as a homemaker, mother and wife.
Through the years, Marilyn has resided in Cedar Rapids, IA, Richmond, VA, and Atlanta, GA. She loved crafting with her hands, oil painting, rug hooking along with a love for antiques, interior decorating, lawn and garden work, church bell choir, animals, the beach and authoring her volume, “With Love and Best Wishes”. She also enjoyed watching baseball and college basketball. Along with reading non-fiction books in her lounge chair with her 21 year old cat by her side. A game of Scrabble was always in the works, as she played a good game the day before she died.
A Memorial Service will be held October 29, 2017 at 1:00pm at Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell, GA.
