Marjory Lorraine Recker passed away in Marietta, GA on the morning of December 1, 2016 at the age of 90. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, she was peaceful and surrounded by family in her final hours. Born in Jamestown, NY on July 25, 1926, she was one of four children to Richard and Pearl Cooper. At 19, she married Theodore Lee Recker of Ohio and they had two children: Gale and Cary Recker. Marjory is survived by her sister Patricia Lawrence, her niece Barbie Gordon, her daughter Gale VanValkenburgh, her granddaughter Brittany Greene, and her great-granddaughter Morgan. “Memo” as she came to be called was a strong, independent woman who was full of life well into her later years. She loved coffee, was a talented gardener, and an avid antique collector and dealer. Marjory loved reading and striking up conversations with anyone she crossed paths with; she was curious and adventurous; she loved learning. The family will celebrate her life and honor her memory in a service at Roswell Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3 at 2pm.
