Beloved wife and mother, Jeanne Serafin, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in the presence of her daughter and sister in Augusta, Ga. We rejoice that our precious mother is home — fully restored, made whole and face to face with her loving Savior, and with her loving husband who preceded her in death.
Mary Jeanne Serafin was born on December 5, 1942, to Frances and Henry Beggs in Scranton, Pa. Jeanne always had an affinity for classical ballet and was a ballet dancer in Scranton as well as in New York City. She danced the principal role in Romeo and Juliet with the Ballet Theatre of Scranton. Although her love for dance continued throughout her life, it was her love for family and being an attentive and caring mother to her three children that she considered her greatest accomplishment.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother and Nana to her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was known for her faithful devotion to Christ her Lord and Savior, her gentle and merciful spirit, her constant devotion to her family and her strong and daily prayer for them and others in her life. She was a prayer warrior who left a legacy of the power of prayer to her children and family members.
Jeanne will be deeply missed by her sister Patricia Grayeski, her son Jeffrey Joseph Serafin, son Christopher Robert Serafin (wife Karen Serafin), daughter Aimee Serafin (husband Scott Thorp); and her grandchildren Tyler Serafin (wife Larson Hamby Serafin), Hyatt, Anslie, Skylar, Luke, Aidan, Kristina, and her great grandson Banks; grandchildren by marriage: Gray, Josie, Baylor and Brailyn; and many other loving relatives and faithful friends. Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Serafin, her mother, Frances Giannetta, and her father, Henry Beggs. Her sister, Patricia Grayeski, lives in Marietta, Ga.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 30, 11 a.m., at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, 30068; 770-973-6561) to celebrate Jeanne’s life and honor her contributions to her family and our world.
Flowers may be delivered for the Celebration of Life service to Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (955 Johnsons Ferry Road) or, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to Trinity on the Hill Contemporary Service, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue Augusta, GA 30904 (using Jeanne Serafin in the memo line), in honor of Jeanne Serafin.
Jeanne’s departure leaves a deep void in our hearts, but her gentle, prayerful and merciful legacy will be felt by all of us for years to come.
