Michael James Burrell, 63, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was born in New York City and welcomed into the loving family of James and Sybil Burrell, who raised him with unwavering love and devotion. Their love, guidance, and steadfast support shaped the man he became and the life he lived.
His personality was larger than life. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like a lifelong friend. His hearty, contagious laugh filled every room, and his warm embraces, generous spirit and genuine affection left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Michael was the kind of man who would gladly help a friend, a neighbor, or even someone he had just met, asking for nothing in return. His favorite pastime was watching football, playing golf, and cooking for his family and friends.
Michael enjoyed an accomplished career in broadcast television and professional sports, earning the respect of colleagues through his leadership, integrity, and unwavering work ethic. He began his career at WXIA-TV in television sales, where his talent and dedication led him from Account Executive to Local Sales Manager to National Sales Manager. He later served as General Manager of Telemundo television station in West Palm Beach, Florida before joining the Atlanta Falcons, where he served as Senior Account Executive for ten years.
Although he achieved many professional accomplishments throughout his career, Michael measured success not by titles or accolades, but by the lives he touched along the way. He was a mentor who believed in developing others, celebrating their successes, and helping them reach their full potential. The same heart that made him an exceptional leader in the workplace also inspired him to coach young athletes, encourage those around him, and invest wholeheartedly in the people whose lives he was privileged to share.
