Michelle Janette Wilson

Michelle Janette Wilson, 56, of Peachtree Corners passed away July 25, 2026. Through her family and community, in real estate and journalism, Michelle was known for her unwavering faith, thoughtful and generous personality, and boundless strength and determination. She touched countless individuals through her commitment to her church and family, as well as her friends, neighbors and colleagues at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Coldwell Banker.

Michelle loved playing tennis, coaching soccer and watching anything related to the University of Georgia, her alma mater. She cherished all those getaways with her girlfriends, holiday lunches at Taqueria del Sol, and being Grandma Wilson to a family she adopted in spirit.

Michelle was born on April 21,1970 to Fred and Marcia Noble in Decatur, Ga. She graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in journalism, specializing in newspapers. She started her 17-year career at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an assistant sports editor before becoming a mom and moving into a part-time reporter role. Michelle put professionalism before her lifelong roots as (her words) “a loyal but perpetually disappointed Atlanta sports fan.”

In the male-dominated AJC sports department fueled by deadline stress and questionable habits, Michelle’s infectious positivity and smile made grizzled desk guys clean up their appearance and language. One coworker described her effect as “fresh air, honesty and brilliant energy. She made a newsroom a family room, and everybody appreciated that.” Michelle elevated those around her, making the entire team better at their craft simply by working alongside them. (At least two colleagues who listened to Michelle’s unsolicited dating advice give her credit for their long marriages today. She usually was right.)

As traditional media moved quickly into digital and social platforms, Michelle leaned into change with grace and humor; her Instagram account was @michelle_not_melanie. In 2012, she reinvented herself as a Coldwell Banker real estate agent. Ever competitive, in this field she turned a triple play with three closings in one day. Her diverse clients praised her knowledge, caring and calm assurance, and she always tagged her posts #lovemyjob.

Michelle’s departure leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, but her legacy of strength, love and generosity will forever be remembered.

Michelle will be deeply missed by her husband, Todd Wilson; sons Cooper Wilson and Wesley Wilson; sister, Jennifer Warren; aunts and uncles Bruce and Karen Anglin, and Judy and Buddy Neel, as well as cousins Steven, Randy, Derek, and Brian; and countless friends and her dog Bear. She is preceded in death by her mother Marcia Noble, father Fred Noble, grandparents Doris and Gene Anglin, and grandmother Faye Noble.

A memorial service is scheduled Aug. 29 at 2 pm at Mount Pisgah Church, 2850 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022. The family would love if everyone that came to the service to please wear red, black, or both in her honor just for that UGA look. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and Mount Pisgah Church in memory of Michelle.
