Born on June 10, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Morty was the son of Rachael (Ray) Greenblatt and Abraham (Albert) Greenblatt. He later moved with his family to Miami, Florida, at the age of 16.
At 19, Morty joined the Florida National Guard, where he served honorably for six years. During that time, he began his college studies at Miami-Dade College, earning an Associate Degree in Biology. He continued his education for another two years, ultimately earning his certificate in Respiratory Therapy.
Morty went on to build a meaningful 40-year career in respiratory therapy, serving in various management positions throughout the years. He spent 26 of those years at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, where he cared for countless patients.
One of the most important chapters of Morty’s life began when he was 21 years old and met Brenda Glazier. The two fell in love and were married on September 1, 1963, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned 63 years. Their marriage was a testament to a lifetime of love, commitment, companionship, and shared experiences. Their love and devotion remained at the center of Morty’s life.
Morty was a quiet, compassionate man who was always willing to lend a hand. He did not need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impression. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help spoke for themselves. As the years went by, those who knew him also came to appreciate another side of his personality: a wonderfully dry sense of humor, quick wit, and quirky observations. His humor was uniquely his own, and those moments of laughter became part of what made him so special.
He had a curious mind and a lifelong love of learning, especially when it came to history and medical books. He enjoyed reading and discovering new things, always finding something interesting to explore. Morty and Brenda also loved to travel, sharing adventures and experiences that became treasured memories along the way.
Above all, Morty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His life was defined not only by the years he lived or the career he built, but by the relationships he cherished and the love he gave to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, strength, and laughter.
Morty was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rachael (Ray) and Abraham (Albert) Greenblatt; his older sister, Jeanette; and his younger brother, Lenny.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Brenda Greenblatt; his son, Jeff Greenblatt (Martha Gilbert); his niece, Debbie Beresin; and his granddaughters, Samantha Riley and Sarah Greenblatt. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on November 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, Georgia, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell GA 30076, to celebrate Morty’s life, love, and the many memories he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Morton Greenblatt.
His absence leaves a void in our lives that cannot be filled, but we find comfort in knowing that the memories we hold so dear will never fade.
