Nancy Kay Mitchler Dooher, a loving Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and beloved Friend. Nancy unexpectedly went to heaven while sunning by her condominium pool in Stuart, FL on August 1st, 2024, in her bikini, with red lipstick on, and a smile on her face!
Nancy was born in Casper, Wyoming on February 15, 1960- an” almost Valentine baby”- to Harlan & Marie Mitchler. Her siblings Ann & Lynn excitedly welcomed her. In 1963, the family moved to Provo, Utah. Baby Brother David joined the family in 1967 in Utah. The family loved picnics & the beautiful Wasatch Mountains; then the family moved to San Francisco, and ultimately moved to Roswell, GA. in 1970. Nancy’s formative years were spent in Roswell & she grew to become a Georgia Girl. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1978. She was known & loved by her life-long Roswell friends and her “Girl Friends” who were really more like sisters- including Sister Lynn, Allyson, Kathy, Cindi, Sharon, Janet, Joanie and later, Sister Kim. They shared a love for the beach and more importantly, they shared 50 years of treasured friendship. They loved sharing a road trip or a cruise through town. Nancy loved any beach-especially Bathtub Beach on Hutchinson Island. Nancy always had a fun loving, child-like nature that made everyone smile. She filled her friends & family’s hearts with joy, laughter, and love!
Nancy and Patrick were always meant to be together and were engaged and married in Jackson Hole Wyoming on August 14, 1993. They have had a life-long love for Jackson Hole Wyoming, Wyoming wildflowers and the Teton mountains. Nancy and Patrick were married almost 31 years. They had a passion and deep love that sustained them through all of life’s highs and lows.
In 2007, Patrick moved to Stuart FL with AT&T. Nancy commuted from Stuart to Atlanta weekly until 2018. On her weekends in Stuart, Nancy embraced the beach lifestyle with gusto. She also loved her Atlanta job at RB Management. Also, during that time, she was dedicated to helping family members in Atlanta through their own life-journeys. For 20 years, Nancy managed 2 downtown Atlanta office towers; 260 & 270 Peachtree Street. Her tenants and co-workers loved her management style and humor, her kindness and dedication. Nancy retired from RB Management in 2018 as Executive Vice President.
Nancy and Lynn, born three years apart, were always a team. They lived together, fussed at each other, and unconditionally supported each other. Nancy was a pest to Ann & Lynn, as children. They said she was their mother’s favorite. She pulled their hair, they locked her out of the house, she smiled with a squinty eye & they teased her. When David entered the picture, Nancy was David’s biggest advocate & pal. She loved attending his many athletic events. She was scorekeeper & cheerleader at his RHS Basketball games. Nancy and Pat loved being at as many of the nephews and nieces’ activities as possible. It was a priority of theirs to support them at football, baseball, basketball, recital, singing, volleyball, dance, and horse shows. Nancy just wanted to be with the family and enjoy the young members of the family as they grew up. These were some of Nancy’s happiest times.
Nancy’s favorite things included The Atlanta Braves, sea glass & heart shaped rocks found on the beach, her Nieces & Nephews, her Great Nieces & Nephews, including soon- to- be born baby girl Kennedy and baby boy REB, red lipstick, high heels, “Fancy Nancy” books, Dooher Family Sing-alongs, Mitchler Family Smorgasbords, and cats Brother, Sister, “Ginge”, and Mariah.
Family and friends will always be inspired by Nancy’s strength and resilience. Nancy had such a will to live and was a great inspiration to many of us over the years. For 27+ years, she fought many tough battles with cancer. She was a bright light during all these challenges.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Patrick, brother David (Kim) Mitchler, sister Ann (Mike) Boswell, niece Kathryn (Robert) Blythe, nephews (Zachary (Julia) Mitchler, Michael Mitchler; Gail(Joe)Oliver, Lynn (Jean Paul) Albertelli, John (Cathie Lin) Boyle, and nieces & nephews Joe (Nadine) Oliver, Merrin (Carson) Jeffries, Cecily (Andrew)Carlin, Caroline Taafe, Will Simon, Mackenzie (Jacob)Munson, & Jack Boyle. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lynn Mitchler and sister-in-law Joanne Simon.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, stories, and most of all, your prayers. We offer special gratitude and love to Dr. Nicholas O Iannotti, “Dr. I.,” Stacy, and Brittany. Your kindness, compassion and caring concern for Nancy was a gift to Nancy and her whole family.
