Pairzetty “Parry” Omar Long, aged 84, peacefully slipped to Heaven on December 2, 2023 at her home in Roswell, GA surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 31, 1939 in Massillon, Ohio to the late Omar and Major John P. Graves (PeePaw, Big Daddy). She is preceded in death by her husband Bart Long, infant son, Henry B Long, Jr. and sister Gretchen Graves Baur. She is survived by her sister Ginny Graves Clark (Dennis), her daughters Debbie Long Schiffmacher (Andy) and Verlon Long, her grandchildren Laura Knight (Steven) and Ashley Schiffmacher, her great-grandchildren Jet and Mia Knight, her sister-in-law Dorothy Fritch, her brother-in-law Bill Baur, beloved nieces and nephews and dear friend Tony Dodaro.
Parry graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida in 1957. She worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life and after her husband passed continued to run the family business, G.B.Long Machine, Inc. Her work ethic and determination were unparalleled.
Parry lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born with an innate passion for motherhood, and she nurtured and fiercely loved her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and priority. She instilled values of love, kindness, forgiveness and resilience, leaving an enduring legacy.
She loved a musical, “The Sound of Music” and “Mamma Mia” were two favorites. She cherished Debbie Reynolds and Hallmark movies, and every DIY show on television. She possessed an uncanny ability to sing every traditional folk song, serenading her children, grand and great-grand children throughout their lives. Her appetite for king crab and shrimp rivaled that of three men combined. She loved visiting Las Vegas and a good game of black jack. She found solace and peace on a lake and loved to paddle the canoe and a tranquil swim. She loved the freedom of driving her car and loved the green Cadillac most. She loved living in a place that had 4 seasons and cherished each one. She loved being a Bubbie. She loved her father and her sister. She loved God.
In the last decade of her life, she relocated from Tampa to Roswell, GA to spend time with her overjoyed daughter. After finally retiring she made space and time to embrace new adventures, was always up for any trip or excursion. She lived life with an open heart, was quick to laugh and never turned down an opportunity to travel and explore the world around her.
Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, but her love and memories will continue to inspire us. Though she has departed this world, her legacy of love, dedication, strength will forever illuminate our paths.
Her family will love her forever.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ennoble Hospice Care for their care this past year.
Although she loved bright, beautiful flowers, she would have been delighted to have donations be made to North Fulton Communities Charities https://nfcchelp.org/ in her memory.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Tampa, Florida.
