Mr. Battle was preceded in death by his parents, Torrey and Emery Battle. He is survived by his two brothers, Al Battle of Roswell, GA, and Billy Battle of Birmingham, AL.
Born in Nashville on June 2, 1949 as Paul Robert Battle, he worked as a professional songwriter and performer during the 1970’s through the 1990’s in both Nashville and Los Angeles. He had more than 200 songs published through Sony/ATV Tree Publishing, the Universal Music Group, Irving Music, Inc., Music Sales Corporation and other music publishers.
He achieved success on his own as a pop recording artist with his composition “Radio Loves You”, released in the USA on A&M Records and in Europe on CBS Records.
Mr. Battle will best be remembered for his piercing blue eyes, easy laughter, and laid-back demeanor.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, 4800 Belmont Park Terrace, Nashville,TN 37215. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his name to the American Lung Association.
