Dear Barbara,
It is with deep condolences that I write to you today. Our friend Paul was an instrument of peace and faith in our Lord Jesus. He taught us all how to leave this earth and to trust in our God. Although he wasn't able to travel to Israel, he is seeing the real Jerusalem firsthand. He will be remembered by me and so many others that knew and loved him! My prayers and thoughts will be you and your wonderful family.

Paige and Eric, I am so sorry for this loss in your lives and pray for the Lord’s comfort to be close to you in the days ahead.  We grieve, but as St. Paul says, we do not grieve as those who have no hope.  Our hope is in Him!  Here are the words from an old hymn that have helped me in seasons of grief:  “Soar we now where Christ hath led / Following our exalted Head / Made like Him, like Him we rise / Ours the cross, the grave, the skies!”  The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face to shine upon you; the Lord be gracious unto you, and make His face to shine upon you. We send our sincerest condolences to you & your family on the passing of your beloved husband, Paul, a giant man of faith, a genuine, gentleman of humility. With his kind & gentle demeanor, he greeted everyone with tenderness, a warm welcome & a big smile, putting us at ease & making us feel at home. In the same way, returning to his heavenly home, he now receives the tender smile & warm embrace of Our Heavenly Father with His welcoming words, “Well done, my good & faithful servant.” Paul touched us deeply & will always have a special place in our hearts.

Barbara, Jeff, Matt, Paige and families:  We share in your grief at Paul's passing, but also in your comfort at knowing that he is with our Lord  forever, and the enlightenment he has been constantly seeking!  As always, Paul is leading the way, getting all of the important items addressed and helping to prepare a special place for you, your family, and all those he loved!  Meanwhile, he will be consulting with the great prophets, apostles, and saints as to those (very few) complex theological puzzles he was not quite able to solve while here with us.

We met as neighbors, became good friends, and you all have been part of our Georgia family for many years.  Paul has been such a steadfast mentor, coach, and best friend to Ray.  Barbara and Paul's marriage has been an inspiration to us.  Their love of family has shown us how special it is to keep the ones we love close.  They have been prayer warriors for us when we most needed it.

As one family in Christ, we can all look forward to the continued loving community that we have found in each other here in Johns Creek, Georgia.  

It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye for now to a great friend and mentor in the men's fellowship group.  Paul was one of the first men I met when I joined the group.  He was a light to many of us in the group.  I know that I have a strong intercessor in heaven and I will not hesitate to call on him.  

May the peace of Christ, our savior, be with us all who will miss him.

Paul and Barbara are gifts  our Lord put in my path.  Thank you Lord.

Remember at every Mass, wherever we are, all the angels and saints are there worshiping with us.  Paul is surely among that great cloud of witnesses.

Paul had a way of sharing  the important meanings of life with his strong faith that touched us deeply.   We were blessed to know Paul like a brother that we never had and his words and many kindnesses will live on in our hearts.   God blessed us many times over by having Paul in our lives.  Our deepest sympathy to dear Barbara and the entire family.

I will always remember Paul’s pleasant disposition and deep spiritual thoughts.  We are praying for you. 

The last time we saw Paul and Barbara was at the Phillips’ Halloween Party. And in the middle of this party,  Paul was witnessing to Our Lord’s Presence and Peace in his and Barbara’s lives — in the challenges they faced.  This witness of Paul’s faith and trust burns in my memory and inspires me to pray for such trust and faith. Our prayers, love and condolences to Barbara and the entire Gardner family.

Paul was such a kind human being.  His presence will certainly be missed on the pew behind us if/whenever we are allowed to practice conventional mass once again.  
Remember, nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.  Barbara, I agree with the Fitchko's, Paul will always be by your side.

My wife and I would see Paul at the 8:45am Mass every Sunday and he would always spend time talking. He was a fellow Sir Knight of Columbus and St. Vincent d'Paul. He was a true friend with a strong handshake for one and all. He was an avid golfer and now he can play with our Lord. Our prayers go out to Paul & Barbara and the entire Gardner family. Paul was a wonderful kind guy always ready with a hand shake,
a smile and greeting.
He would always remember my name.
He attended a few Bible classes with me and we shared our
homework numerous times.
His eyes lit up when he saw Barbara.
He will be missed, but I know he will always be watching over her.
May he rest in the arms of the Lord. He is now free of pain.
May  God bless Barbara and her family in this time of grief.

When I think of Paul the word gentleman comes to mind.   When ever I saw him (always by your side) he was so serene.  He had such a kind demeanor and a warm smile.  My heart aches for you and your family.  May God be with you and give you peace and know that Paul will  be at your side always.
