Retired Major Peter Andrew Thompson passed away on Saturday, Jan 30th after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great leader. As veteran of the Vietnam conflict and a member of an elite special ops unit, he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor and the Combat Infantry badge. His leadership qualities continued in a successful sales career. He was an avid golfer and member of Rivermont Country Club.
His ability to display strength, trust and love resulted in many friends over the years. However, his unwavering love and support of his wife, family and country are his most admirable accomplishments. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dawn; children Shawn, Megan and Alyson; and granddaughter Lauren.
Funeral services will be held at Roswell Funeral Home at 10:30am, Friday, Feb 5th. The Thompson Family will be receiving friends at 9:30am. Interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 12:30pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Rivermont Country Club in Johns Creek from 3pm to 7pm.
