Rhoda Welt Wasserstrom, 98, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on February 24, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rhoda began nurses’ training as a young woman, when she met David Welt. They married when she was 19 and built a life filled with hard work, family, and adventure.
Rhoda, David, and their three young children Glenn, Michele, and Lynn, moved to Miami in 1956, where she supported David's growing paint roller and camera tripod businesses while volunteering at Homestead Air Force Base. Their travels to Europe sparked a lifelong love of travel. In the early 70's, Rhoda opened Kings Bay Travel in Miami.
After David’s passing in 1981, Rhoda and her daughter Michele opened Chastain Square Travel in Atlanta, continuing Rhoda’s passion for helping others see the world. For many years, she worked with Lynn creating deluxe foreign travel itineraries. She was still planning trips—most recently to Australia—just days before she passed.
Rhoda married Leonard Wasserstrom in 1983; he introduced her to golf. She rarely missed a tournament on TV. Leonard passed away 19 years after they married. They lived in Naples. Fl, Columbus, Oh, and Henderson, NV.
Rhoda is survived by her three children, Glenn, Michele, and Lynn; her grandchildren Audrey, David (Zuly), Mike (Kasea); and eleven great grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rhoda’s favorite charities: Tunnels to Towers and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. You may have a tree planted in Israel in her honor. Her final resting place will be Mt. Nebo in Kendall, Florida next to David.
Rhoda will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her love of travel.
