Born on December 7, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the cherished son of Walter F. Euler and Mildred E. Euler.
A proud graduate of Webster Groves High School, Richard continued his education at the University of Missouri in Columbia. His greatest blessing came much earlier, meeting his lifelong love, Josephine, in the 7th grade. Their childhood friendship grew into a partnership that lasted a lifetime, and they were married in 1958.
Richard built a distinguished career at IBM, beginning in 1964. Over the years, he earned numerous accolades, including eight 100% Club Sales Awards, a testament to his dedication and talent. He briefly stepped away from IBM to join Computer Usage Company, an opportunity that allowed him to move his family to Milan, Italy, where he worked on the Montecatini Edison account for three memorable years. He later returned to IBM and remained there until his retirement.
One of the experiences Richard treasured most was volunteering at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Serving as a liaison for athletes from the country of Jordan, he took great joy in helping them navigate their events and proudly showing them the city he called home.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Richard. He played football and baseball at Webster Groves High School and went on to play college football for his beloved Mizzou Tigers. In adulthood, he enjoyed handball, tennis, and—above all—golf.
We mourn the loss of a truly good man, whose kindness and generosity touched every part of his life. Richard never hesitated to help—whether it was a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger who simply needed someone to show up. A steady hand, a warm smile, and quiet acts of service were his natural gifts.
He believed that a life’s worth was measured by how you treated others, and he lived that belief with unwavering consistency. His compassion, patience, and willingness to give of himself were blessings to all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his devoted daughter, Diana Brizzi of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and his son-in-law, Dennis Brizzi. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson Euler of St. Louis, Missouri; his niece, Pamela Stelling of Webster Groves, Missouri; and his nephews, David Euler and Matthew Euler, both of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and his brother-in-law, David Euler.
Richard’s legacy endures in the countless lives he touched. His memory will continue to inspire us—to be kinder, to be more generous, and to help one another without being asked. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
