

Richard C. Naugle, of Tyrone, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 23, 2016 in the Doctor’s Hospice of Georgia at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, the former Frances Knight Erickson in 2006. Richard is survived by his son Todd and wife, Kay, and their children Taylor and Ella, his son Mark and wife, Kimberly, and his son Blake and wife, Tara.
Richard was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1922 to Clive and Jesse Naugle.
He was a 1941 graduate of Washburn High School in Minneapolis, where was a co-captain of the football team, and a member of the golf team.
After high school graduation, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota and studied business administration until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, after the outbreak of World War II. Richard was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon his graduation from flight school in 1944, and flew 21 bombing missions over Nazi occupied Europe as a B-26 pilot. For the remainder of his life, Richard was an ardent supporter of veterans’ groups and organizations.
After the war, Richard returned to the University of Minnesota, and graduated in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Richard had a long and successful career as an executive with the Coca-Cola company, and retired after 30 years with the company in 1986. He was a dutiful father and husband.
Richard was an avid and accomplished golfer, winning several amateur tournaments and at one time playing to a six handicap. Golf was his favorite pastime, and he played regularly well into his eighties.
The family is having a private ceremony to celebrate his life at the Roswell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. The family would like to thank his hospice workers for their care and support during his last days.
