Robert "Bob" Anderson Edmondson III

Bob was born on September 15, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Atlanta and attended The Westminster Schools. He attended Emory University and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Bob married Meredith Ellen Mies in 1967, and they had two wonderful sons together. A lifelong history buff, Bob read historical books and magazines almost all of his days, and he constructed historical collections, including one of the finest collections of Civil War uniform buttons in the United States. He was a long-time member of Clayton First United Methodist Church and later Truth Chapel, both in Clayton, Georgia. Bob moved to Rabun County, Georgia in 1986, fell in love with the area, and lived out his life in the Georgia mountains he loved so much. Bob barely lived a day in his life without pets, including reptiles, but cats were his favorite pets of all.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert Anderson Edmondson, IV (Deede) and Charles Mies Edmondson (Dana), four grandchildren, Meredith Bean and Rob, Kate, and Thomas Edmondson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Bresee, and is survived by his two remaining sisters, Eugenia Kolodney and Laura Childers.

Bob had many, many friends, a testament to his wit, humor, intelligence, and genuine love for people who were kind and genuine to others. He was an amazing storyteller. Above all else, Bob loved his boys.
