

Remembering with love Robert (“Bob”) Louis Takacs, age 74, of Roswell, Georgia, who passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025 following a massive stroke in November. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 27, 1950, son of the late Mae and Elmer Takacs. Bob lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to family, friends, and community.
Bob married the love of his life, Martha H. Takacs, on December 12, 1985, and they shared 39 beautiful years together. He was a proud father to Rob Takacs (mother Sally) and his wife Felicia, along with their children Regan, Robby, and Rhett of Johns Creek, GA; Chad Herren and his wife Susan, along with their children Riley and Myles of Destin, FL; and Stephen Takacs and his wife Hillary of Dunwoody, GA. Bob is also survived by his beloved siblings, sister Joan Boyer and partner Gary Cercek of Largo, FL, brother Jim Takacs and his wife Laurie of Pataskala, OH, nieces and nephews, and an extensive Hungarian family in Ohio.
A talented athlete and scholar, Bob graduated in 1968 from Nordonia High School in Macedonia, Ohio, where he excelled on the basketball court, captain his senior year, and later inducted into the Nordonia High School Hall of Fame October 13, 1979. In 1972, he graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History. Bob completed his education by earning his Master of International Management from the University of Arizona Thunderbird School of Global Management August, 1976.
Bob began his professional life as a history teacher and basketball coach at Nordonia High School but later found his true calling in finance. In 1977, he moved to Atlanta with his first wife Sally Akerstrom, and son Rob to embark on a career as a financial advisor initially with Merrill Lynch among others, most recently with Carter Terry where he served clients with integrity and dedication for more than 45 years. It was during his tenure at Paine Webber that he met his wife Martha, in 1983.
Bob was always fascinated with history and had a passion for the subject that was clear to all who knew him, instilling that same passion in his students and his own children and grandchildren. He enjoyed World War II documentaries, lively history discussions with friends, and traveling to historical sites in Europe. Bob was the first immediate family member to visit the cemetery in the south of France in which his uncle Robert Louis Takacs, a veteran of World War II, is buried.
An avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan, Bob’s passion for sports never waned. Bob also loved traveling, spending time with his family, and enjoying cherished moments at their beach home on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Known for his quirky grin, sharp wit, and kind heart, Bob brought joy, laughter and inspiration to everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life and Lunch Reception will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Flint Hill Venue, 539 S. Peachtree St., Norcross, GA 30071.

Bob’s legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.,
