

Ronald E. Robinson, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and his family moved to Vicksburg when he very young, which he considered to be his hometown. He was preceded in death by his mother, Allee Barnes, and step-father, C.J. Barnes, and cousins and aunts and uncles in Vicksburg.
He graduated from Carr Central High school and graduated from Mississippi State University, where he met his future wife, Virginia Sanders, as she was visiting as part of a choral group. He also served his country in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Alaska. After his military service he graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering. Having considered an offer of a job in New York, he accepted a job with Southern Bell where he spent his career, eventually settling in Jacksonville, Florida, where he raised two sons, Jimmy and John. He was a good father who never needed to yell in raising his sons. He received a promotion which led him to Lynn Haven, Florida, and eventually to Roswell, Georgia. He and Virginia were married Aug. 26, 1955 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Roswell in 2005, and were married for 67 years.
He was very active in the Lions Club both in Florida and Georgia, receiving awards and recognition for his service. He was a member of track clubs in Florida and Georgia, running 10K races, and half-marathons and marathons. He and Virginia traveled to Switzerland where he ran part of a marathon up a mountain and ran a marathon in Hawaii. He and Virginia were fortunate to be able to travel later in life after they both retired.
He leaves behind a legacy of being someone who was well liked and generous in helping others. He was also a servant, always ready to help others and his church. He watched his finances carefully but never hesitated to help someone out that needed it or contribute to a deserving charity. He leaves behind many friends, and family members who loved him and will miss him. His life was well lived and one to emulate and he will be missed by those that knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, sons, Jimmy Robinson of LaGrange, and John Robinson of Roswell, a sister in law, Sue Sullivan, niece, Sandy White, and nephews, Gib Sims and Stuart Sims.
A memorial service for Ronald will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. Following the service the family will receive friends in the Roswell Funeral Home Event Room.
