Rosilyn Beth Hines Taylor, the youngest of four children of Clara M. Hines and the late Ross M. Hines was born December 23, 1962, in Newport News, Virginia. She was called home and transitioned into the presence of the Lord on May 31, 2021. Rosilyn loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved people.
Rosilyn completed her charge to serve this present age with joy. She was trustworthy, caring, compassionate and strived to do all things in Excellence.
Rosilyn was a graduate of Hampton High School and Virginia State University (VSU) where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After graduation from VSU, Rosilyn was selected to participate in the Fisk University Bridge II Program, a six-week program designed to “bridge the gap” between completing undergraduate studies and moving on to Graduate School and Corporate America. This is where she met Garry Taylor, a graduate of Fisk University and a program host student. Rosilyn and Garry’s friendship blossomed to the altar of matrimony.
Rosilyn had a special love for children. Her most recognized statement was, “It’s All About the Children”! She desired that all children have an opportunity to achieve their dreams and goals in life. Rosilyn fulfilled that desire through faithful service. As Wife, Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, Rosilyn shared her love abundantly. May her love of family and friends continue to grow through her legacy and all who knew her.
Rosilyn was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Roswell, GA, where she served in many capacities. She served on the Deaconess Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Education Ministry (AWANA, Children‘s Church, Tutoring, and I VOW Program). An avid lover of gospel music, she served as Directress of the Mighty Praizers, and sang with various choirs and Praise Teams. Rosilyn used her skills as a leader to Chair Women’s Weekends and The ZMBC Annual Homecoming. Her love and support were shared as a mentor, friend and confidant, to all ages within her church family.
Rosilyn was generous with her Time, Talents, and Treasures. She was always willing to assist others and make a difference with a Servant’s Heart. She was an active member of her community throughout the years. Rosilyn was initiated Spring 1982 into Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Virginia State University where she served as Treasurer and Pan-Hellenic representative for two years. She was a natural leader and organizer. Rosilyn was a Life Member of the sorority and a 2001 charter member of Phi Phi Omega Chapter in Alpharetta, GA. Rosilyn’s contributions included PPO Charter Choir, 2002-2003 Assistant Financial Secretary, 2007 Chaplain, 2008-2009 Growth of the Black Family Program Chair, 2010-2011 Parliamentarian and By-Laws, 2013-2014, 2015-2016, 2017-2018 Cotillion Chair and 2018-2019 Membership Co-Chair.
Rosilyn was a legacy member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. In the North Suburban Atlanta Chapter (NSAC), her love of children was evident. She enjoyed serving the community and providing a positive impact on our children and youth. Rosilyn became an active and engaged member of NSAC from day one! Rosilyn lived her belief that truly “It is All About the Children!”
