Sandra Crews Bastianello

She was born August 29, 1950, in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Bastianello received her undergraduate degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, her first Master’s degree in Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and her second Master’s degree in Counseling from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. In addition, she participated in a Doctorate program at Nova Southeastern University in Jacksonville, FL. She enjoyed over forty years of marriage to her devoted and loving husband, Mr. Arthur G. Bastianello.

Mrs. Bastianello dedicated many years of her life being a stay at home mother to her young children, teaching elementary school and serving the needs of children as a counselor. She had her own counseling practice committed to play therapy and helping children work through emotional issues. Mrs. Bastianello enjoyed many different activities including walking on the beach collecting shells, gardening, reading, painting, collecting beautiful handmade artwork from her daughter, Cindy, and traveling extensively throughout the world with her husband. She also enjoyed being a grandmother to her two grandchildren. Mrs. Bastianello was a member of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, GA.

Sandi is survived by her husband and two children: Mrs. Laura M. Blanton of Fort Collins, CO and Mrs. Cynthia B. Matthews of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crews of Little River, SC; two brothers: Mr. Howard “Sonny” Crews Jr. and Mr. David Crews; her two sons-in-law: Mr. Scott C. Blanton and Mr. David T. Matthews; and her two grandchildren: Mr. Dominic R. Blanton and Miss Abigail M. Blanton.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Roswell Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 10:30am with the burial at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, Georgia to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
