

Mrs. Shee Lor Lam, 95, of Alpharetta, GA died peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 26, 2012, in the presence of her family. Mrs. Lam was a native of the Canton area of China, where her first two children were born. The family of four survived both World War II and the Communist Revolution while living in Canton. She left China in 1949 and moved to Hong Kong, where three more children were born. Her husband, Way Lam, went to Brazil for five years to earn passage to the United States for her family. Her sixth child was born in Augusta, GA. Five of her six children graduated from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Mrs. Lam and her husband owned a Chinese grocery store and restaurant in Augusta for many years. Mrs. Lam was an accomplished chef, and prepared and sold a wide variety of Chinese dim sum delicacies. She was also an avid gardener, and grew many of the Chinese vegetables that she used in her kitchen. She and her husband eventually retired and moved to Alpharetta to be nearer to two of their grown children in the Atlanta area. Mrs. Lam is survived by two daughters, Silva Woo, of Potomac, MD, and Sally Woo, of Gainesville, GA; four sons, Herman Lam, of Gainesville, FL, Ben Lam of Todd, NC, Willie Lam, of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Jerry Lam, of Alpharetta, GA; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Fri., Feb. 3, 2012 and the Funeral will be held at 2 P.M., Sat., Feb. 4, 2012 both at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA, 30076, with Reverend Paul Hanna will preside. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Roswell Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
