

Shirley Jean Gardner Few born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on September 15, 1926, passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014, with her daughters, Pennee Ann McCoy, Patricia (Trish) Carol Aamoth, Elizabeth (Betty) Jo Gaston, and grandchildren, Sally Lucia Bray, Katherine (Katie) Elizabeth Dudley and Joseph (Joe) Harling Gaston by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty- five years, Joseph Carroll Few and parents, Cecil Wayne and Ella Buchanan Gardner and brother, Wayne Cecil Gardner. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Pennee Ann Few McCoy, Draper, UT, Patricia Carol Few and Daniel J. Aamoth, Watkinsville, GA, and Elizabeth Jo Few Gaston, Roswell, GA; grandchildren Joseph Patrick (Gale) McCoy, Keller, TX, Paige Elizabeth McCoy (Jerome) Gardiner, Salt Lake City, UT, Karen Renee Aamoth (Jerel) Dawson, Troutman, NC, Sally Lucia Aamoth (Allen) Bray, Atlanta, GA, Lars Aamoth, Charlotte, NC, Katherine Elizabeth Gaston (Christopher) Dudley, Woodstock, GA, Joseph Harling (Kelsey) Gaston, Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren Ella Jean McCoy, Keller, TX, Lyndsey Nicole, Andrew James and Jesse Bowman Dawson, Troutman, NC, Natalie Claire and Lara June Bray, Atlanta, GA, and Greyson Christopher Dudley, Woodstock, GA; sister-in-law Dorothy Whitman Few, Columbia, SC and five nephews. Mrs. Few attended Whitewater State Teachers College in Wisconsin. She moved to Miami, Florida and became a radio operator for National Airlines. She married Joseph Carroll Few on April 6, 1948. Relocated to Jacksonville, FL and later, Atlanta, GA in 1961 with their three daughters. After retiring in 1979, she and her husband left the Atlanta area and resided in Apalachee, Athens, Statham and Roswell, GA. Shirley and Joe traveled extensively to all 50 states and overseas. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2PM in the Chapel at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, with Pastor Art Wilder officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:45PM preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
