

Shirley Whittaker Miller, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of May 30th, 2025, in Kennesaw, Georgia, at the age of 80. Her passing was a result of her courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Shirley resided in Woodstock, Georgia.
Born on July 20th, 1944, in Many, Louisiana, Shirley was the daughter of the late Johnny Franklin and Louis Evalyn Saville Whittaker. She grew up in Louisiana, attending Fair Park High School in Shreveport, where she was an ROTC Sponsor and a proud member of the Honor Society.
Shirley married the love of her life, Thomas Jerome Miller, on June 7th, 1963. For 62 remarkable years, they shared a bond of faithful companionship, building a beautiful life together. Shirley dedicated herself to her family as a devoted homemaker, ensuring a loving environment for all. Beyond their domestic joys, Shirley and Tom delighted in seeing the world, sharing adventures that took them to its farthest reaches.
Shirley was a woman of deep faith and served faithfully in her local church for many years. She found joy in reading and, more importantly, in spending time with people. Shirley had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued, showing genuine interest in the lives of anyone she met. She was truly an anchor in keeping family gatherings and relationships strong, fostering connections with her loving spirit.
Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was a very active grandmother, making sure to spend individual time with each grandchild and striving to be their biggest cheerleader at their various activities. She poured her love and energy into being a significant and encouraging presence in their lives. Her relationships with her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews were also deeply cherished by all.
Shirley is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothea May Whittaker LaGrone.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Miller; her children, Doug Miller and wife Connie, and Sheri Neiman and husband Bruce; her beloved grandchildren Michael Miller, Mackenzie Zimmerman, Jeremy Zimmerman, Caleb Neiman, Luke Neiman, Lydia Chester, Daniel Neiman, Peter Neiman; and four precious great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Gwendolyn Whittaker Howard, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Shirley will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2:30pm. Following the committal service, a service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076 on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 4:00PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
