Shirley A. Steele

Shirley A. Steele, 83, of Roswell, GA passed away on May 7, 2011. She was born on October 4, 1927 and raised in Herreid, SD. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of South Dakota in 1949. She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting. She actively volunteered with the Northside Hospital Nursery. She was a member of the Roswell United Methodist Church and member of the Womens Methodist Circle. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall and William Gall. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jay, whom she married on June 26, 1949; sons - Jeff (Shelly) Steele, of Roswell, Jon (Joyce) Steele, of Duluth, Joe Steele, of Roswell; grandchildren - Aaron (Ashley), Abby, Julie and Natalie; great grandchildren - Alex and Brooke. Visitation will be from 6 -8 p.m., Mon. May 9, 2011 at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076. The Celebration of Life Service will be 11 A.M., Tues., May 10, at Roswell United Methodist Church, 814 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA. She will be placed at rest following the service at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roswell United Methodist Church or klorfasil.org. Roswell Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
