Stefanie Ann Laputz, 48, passed away peacefully at her home in Roswell, Georgia, on July 1, 2026, surrounded by her family after a year-long battle with brain cancer. She was born on August 6, 1977, in Sedalia, Missouri, to John and Nova Sudduth.
Stefanie was kind-hearted, dedicated, selfless, fierce, focused, intelligent, witty, bright, and beautiful, a thoughtful planner who always wanted more from life. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, as well as a fountain pen enthusiast, writer, traveler, adventurer, knitter, and photographer. Stefanie’s life embodied the saying, “A candle that burns twice as hot burns half as long.”
Stefanie always wanted to be a mother, and she poured her time, heart, energy, and soul into raising her three children. She devoted herself to being present for them and to creating a safe, comfortable, and lively home. She cared deeply, bringing energy, focus, and stability to her family. The world would be a kinder, more thoughtful place with more people like her in it.
Throughout her life, Stefanie accomplished so much: a 27-year marriage, raising three wonderful children, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, driving up a mountain, and walking on a glacier. She traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, the United Kingdom twice, Australia, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and all fifty states, living in five of them. She loved discovering new places and experiences and surrounded herself with quirky collectibles from her travels, favorite movies, and TV shows. Stef also had a little-known superpower: finding four-leaf clovers.
Stefanie touched countless lives through her devotion to family and her generous spirit in helping those around her. She will be deeply missed, and while her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her love, legacy, and memory will carry on.
A private funeral service will be held at St. James cemetery Marietta, GA.
