I worked with Susan from 1985-86  in Fort Pierce, Florida on a technical writing project for Simon and Schuster.Susan was the shining light of our office and  no one was more fun to talk to! She told me so many stories about working for Chanel 4 in Nashville with Dan Miller and the news team. We always joked about the station mascot " Snow Bird" who warned viewers about school closings.One day Susan showed me a Kate Bush record she liked. I bought my own copy and now have Susan to thank for making me a long-time Kate Bush fan!When I last saw Susan at a Kurt Vonnegut lecture she told me about her new job with the Atlanta advertising agency. I saw only good things ahead for her and never dreamed that her life would take such a sad turn. I miss Susan so much and wish I had known her situation in later years. I would have loved to see her one last time.

Susan was a bright spot in this world.

Susan was such an inspiration to so many. I have fond memories of her. She was a lady of strong faith, amazing character and perseverance. It was an honor to know her.

My email friendship with Susan was all to brief but she introduced me to the true meaning of peace and patience and love and acceptance and the list goes on.  I was thrilled to drive around Haiti trying to find her "child" after the earthquake.  Now my heart is sad for you, the family - including Ann and Anna- as I consider the emptiness you must feel in every room and every part of your lives.  But I take comfort in the belief that Susan is now pain free and frolicking around heaven with the other angels and saints.  Her uncle Paul and grandmother Mae were probably both there to greet her!  Please know that the list of people praying for peace in your hearts is endless.  I will not be praying FOR Susan but TO Susan as she is most certainly a saint in the truest sense of the word. I am so very sorry to hear about Susan. I had the pleasure to become Susan's friend during her time at Canine Assistants. Susan would come out once a week and ride my horse, Sasha. I will never forget when Jennifer introduced her to her first service dog, Delta.  I have so many memories of outings with Susan and Delta. 

Susan had the best laugh and a beautiful smile. I will miss her posts on face book. She will always be in my heart.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Duffy family...May you find comfort in your memories of Susan. Her smile, her courage, her outlook on life and her caring heart was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. I'll never forget the ALS 5K's each November and how she braved the cold and inspired all of us to embrace life as she did. It was so touching to see how your family and caregivers stood by her side and supported her. My prayers are with your family today and always.

Susan loved life and had a most positive attitude. Her special way with people was incredible. She was able to communicate more love, generosity, friendship, peace, and much much more than most people do in a lifetime despite her difficult circumstances. Susan was one wonderful human being. We could all take a lesson in life's priorities from Susan and her wonderful family.

God used you to teach me some valuable life lessons. I will miss you Sis.

Frank, Carol, Kevin and Paul, Susan's passing has come as a great shock to us. We were entralled by her recent postings about her illness and how she dealt with it. Her continuous optimism and determination shone through and she will forever be remembered for those qualities alone.
