Susan Upshaw Wannamaker

Ms. Susan Upshaw Wannamaker, age 75, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Susan was born on January 13, 1947, in Lakeland, Florida, a daughter to the late Joe Lanier Upshaw and Frances Boswell Upshaw.

Susan attended Emory University where she received both her bachelor’s in sociology and master’s degree in speech and language pathology. She spent her working career as a speech pathologist in several states, eventually retiring from the Glynn County School System. She loved spending time with family, reading any suspense novel she could find, cooking new recipes, and traveling. Susan was a wonderful mom, grandmother, sister, and friend as well as a generous person always ready to lend a hand. Those that knew and loved her will cherish her impact in their lives.

Susan is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Jerry) Stamey of Georgia and Ginny (Roo) Way of Minnesota; three grandchildren, Mia, Imogene, and Emmett; one brother, Edward Upshaw; and an extended family and many friends.

A celebration of life to honor Susan is planned for Sunday May 15th at 10:30am at the Martins Landing River Club, 1221 Roswell Riverwalk Trail, Roswell, Georgia 30076.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family request donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
