Tommy Neal Mandel

Tommy Neal Mandel, 77, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 20, 1948, to the late Joseph and Caroline Mandel. Tommy grew up in Miami Beach and was a proud graduate of Miami Beach High School. He later graduated from the University of Miami.

Tommy loved sports of all kinds and proudly held season tickets to many of his favorite teams over the years. His daughters fondly remember spending their weekends at sporting events with their dad, creating memories they will treasure forever. He was a devoted fan of South Florida teams, cheering enthusiastically for the Florida Panthers, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Hurricanes. When one of his daughters enrolled at the University of Alabama, Tommy quickly added the Crimson Tide to his list of teams to cheer for. He also remained a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.

Tommy owned and operated his own candy brokerage company, a career that perfectly suited his love of people—and, of course, candy. His daughters fondly remember attending candy conventions with him and growing up in a home that always seemed to have plenty of sweets around.

Those who knew Tommy will remember his quick wit, his sense of humor, and his love of telling a good joke. He had a natural ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone he met. More than anything, Tommy wanted the people around him to be happy, and he had a way of bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went.

Tommy was especially proud of his daughters and never missed an opportunity to tell others about them and their accomplishments. If anything, his daughters would admit, he occasionally embellished those accomplishments just a little—but only because he was so incredibly proud of them.

Tommy is survived by his beloved daughters, Erin Linder (Zal), Joanna Penny (Darrick), and Carly Mandel (Matthew Morrin); and his cherished grandchildren, Aiden Linder, Avery Linder, and Dawsyn Penny. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33172 on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 11:00am. In honor of Tommy and his love for sports, we encourage you to wear apparel or the colors from his favorite teams: Florida Panthers, Dolphins, Marlins, Miami Heat, University of Miami, Green Bay Packers, FSU, The University of Alabama, Brewers or his favorite color orange.
