It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum, Grandma and Mother-In-Law, Valerie Mabel Crabb, who went to be with Jesus and her wonderful husband Robert (Bob) Crabb on November 19th, 2025.
Born on January 19th, 1941, in Hexham, Northumberland, Valerie lived a full life, even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2019, she continued to live a life of joy with family and friends.
Valerie always showed kindness, dedication, and a passion for helping others, no matter what was going on in her own life. She was the daughter of two wonderful and hardworking parents, Stephen and Mabel Robson, and was sister to Michael Robson.
She grew up surrounded by a loving family, in a small village in the North East of England, Cleadon Village, where she married and continued to live with her beloved husband Bob and daughter Fiona-Jane, until they moved to Atlanta Georgia in the early 1990’s. The little family was together again.
Valerie attended Hull University in England, where she developed lifelong friendships and a love for learning, combined with passion and success in Rally Car driving!!
She later pursued a career in education, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and was a Deputy Head (as known in the UK) Assistant Principal for many years, while continuing to teach.
Valerie Crabb was a devoted wife, loving and supportive parent to her only child Fiona-Jane Wheeler and Son-in-law Don Wheeler, amazing grandmother to her only grandchild, Katie Elizabeth Wheeler, with whom she shared a very special bond, and was so very proud of, and was a loyal friend to many. In previous years she enjoyed assisting at both Woodacres Private Pre-school in Marietta, then later Mountain Park Elementary in Roswell. She enjoyed and was at one time President of The Garden Club in Brookfield West Country Club, hosted and attended Bunko Parties, a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, where she loved attending in person both the services and Bible studies. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking, friends and family particularly enjoyed her Yorkshire puddings (traditional food from NE England) and her variety of desserts.
She will be remembered for lighting up a room wherever she went, be it at Publix, the bank or her many doctors’ offices. She was smart and resilient with a great sense of humor and leaves a huge hole in her family and friends’ hearts. Her legacy is certainly one of love, kindness, generosity, and to never give up, no matter how hard life gets, keep moving forward.
Valerie Mabel Crabb is survived by Fiona-Jane Wheeler (Née Crabb) (Daughter), Don Wheeler (son-in-law), and Katie Elizabeth Wheeler (Granddaughter).
She was preceded in death by Robert Frederick Crabb (Spouse), Michael Robson (Brother) June Dickenson (Favorite Cousin)
Valerie Crabb will be laid to rest on December 16th at Green Lawn Cemetery following a graveside service for close friends and family. A celebration of life will be held on December 16th at 2:00 PM at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church with a reception to follow in their Magnolia Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Valerie Crabb.
Valerie Crabb will be deeply missed, and her spirit and smile will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
