Veronica "Ronnie” Fae (Nord) Mahler, age 74, has entered the joy of heaven and is in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. After a 20-year battle with multiple sclerosis and a two-week hospitalization due to pneumonia, Ronnie died peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2026, with her family present at her bedside.
Ronnie was born August 13, 1952, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Clifford D. Dunn and Joyce D. (Ackert) (Dunn) Nord. Following the death of her father, Ronnie was adopted by Glen M. Nord. Along with her parents and two sisters, Ronnie lived first in Rothsay, MN, and then Fergus Falls, MN. She graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High School in 1970 and attended the Fergus Falls Community College.
On June 19, 1971, Ronnie married the love of her life, Dean Allen Mahler. Ronnie and Dean were happily married for 55 years, living first in Moorhead, MN, then Fargo, ND, and finally Acworth, GA, where they moved in 2016 to be near their son (Michael) and his family.
Ronnie was a consummate homemaker, highly skilled at making the tastiest cakes, cookies, and pies. She enjoyed decorating their home and hosting large family gatherings for 4th of July, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Ronnie loved gardening and had a green thumb, growing beautiful irises, gladiolas, peonies, and lilacs. She also loved sewing, making handwoven rugs, antiquing, and updating antique furniture. Above all else, Ronnie loved being Mom to their son, Michael, and, later, Grandma to their grandson, Connor.
During the early years of their marriage, Ronnie worked as Director of Daycare at the YMCA in Fargo, ND. Later, she served for seven years as the General Manager of the Townhouse Hotel in Fargo, ND. Ronnie eventually turned her love of antiquing and collecting into a thriving estate sale business. Ronnie and Dean established Mahler & Mahler Estate Sales, which they ran for 25 years from 1991 to 2016 when they moved to Georgia.
Ronnie was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Glen Nord. Ronnie is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Dean Mahler of Alpharetta, GA; son, Michael (Kelly) Mahler of Roswell, GA; grandson, Connor Mahler of Roswell, GA; two sisters, Judith Nord of Lakeville, MN, and Kathleen (Thomas) (Nord) Gehrig of West Fargo, ND; two nieces and two nephews, Jesse Gehrig of Fargo, ND, Katie (Kyle) (Gehrig) Sarbaum of West Fargo, ND, Samantha (Gehrig) Jensen of Horace, ND, and Jamison (Hilda) Gehrig of West Fargo, ND; and three great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations may be made in Ronnie’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
