Virginia Irene Clopton Smith, age 101, native Atlantan, entered her heavenly home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2016. She was born July 24, 1915, to Georgia Williams and Edwin Lawrence Clopton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years James William Smith and six siblings. She is survived by 2 nieces: Carol Snider, Moody, AL; Judy Jackson, Roswell, GA; and 2 nephews: Larry Bullard, Gainesville, GA; David Bullard, McDonough, GA along with their spouses and 3 generations of great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith had a career as bookkeeper for finance companies in Atlanta and after retirement she lived independently in her home in Norcross, GA until the age of 99. She will be remembered for her strength and ever present smiling face to everyone. She was instantly loved for her friendliness and generosity.
The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Brookdale at Big Creek, Blissful Home Care and Amity Hospice for the love and care shown to our precious Aunt Virginia.
Graveside services will be held at West View Cemetery on Thursday, December 29th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation, please do so to the charity of your choice.
